5 Must Do Hikes In Moab, Utah
Welcome to the wild west. Where red rocks and real western stories are right in front of you. Moab, Utah is one of my favorite small towns in the west, it comes filled with beautiful views and unique shops and restaurants. I’ve been there more times than I can count and eventually I will post a blog on the ins and outs of camping, dining, and entertainment here. But for now I will share some of the most beautiful hikes within a short drive of this town! These are EASY HIKES, everyone can and will want to do together! Some of them are so short you can almost pull your car up to them.
MESA ARCH, Canyon Lands National Park.
This beautiful hike is not for the faint of heart, as for most of canyon land hikes. Just like the name it’s a perfect arch at the edge of the cliff looking over a crazy beautiful canyon. You don’t have to get too close to enjoy the view don’t worry! The hike getting there is less than HALF A MILE and almost no incline. You just park your car and follow a short walk to the over look.
2. SHAFER CANYON OVERLOOK, Canyonlands National Park
Welcome to the mini Grand Canyon. This is also a very SHORT HIKE, .3 miles round trip. Even my 1.5 year old nephew, Lucas, could walk that far! This is also one that even if you aren’t much for heights you can stay away from the cliff edge and just enjoy the views on every side! The walk up to where these photos are taken is a very wide path with lots of flat walking space not near any edges.
3. DELICATE ARCH, Arches National Park
Can someone say WOW. Absolutely the most iconic photo in Utah in my opinion. Everyone has seen this arch at some point on a photo. And yes it does live up to the hype and is even more incredible in person no joke. This hike needs a little more effort than the ones above, this is a 3 MILE ROUND TRIP hike. The first .5 is the main climb of the elevation and after that it’s almost smoothe sailing till the beautiful arch. P.S sunset and sunrise are a must experience here.
4. BOW TIE ARCH, not inside any parks!
The hike up to this arch is almost as cool as the arch itself! Comes with a bonus rope for steep areas and a tiny ladder over some bigger rocks. My advice bring a little picnic and hangout for a while. Still only a 2.3 MILES ROUND TRIP. You can do it!
5. PARK AVE TRAIL, Arches National Park
First let me start by saying experiencing these parks in the winter should be on your bucket list! Changes everything. This is at the top of the trailhead, this trail goes down into the canyon below for a beautiful stroll along some crazy red rock walls. 1.8 MILES OUT AND BACK.
